The mind is such a fragile mystery…

Today I saw a bird. Most days that wouldn’t really be a very significant event but I’m currently 10 days into a Pacific crossing from San Francisco to Sydney and currently we’re pretty much in the middle of nowhere. We crossed the equator some time last night. I guess the water in the toilets goes the opposite direction now…or at least it would if we didn’t have space-age vacuum toilets.

Today I saw a bird. There’s not much out here. They say we’re never more than 7 miles from land. Straight down that is…

Today I saw a bird. I’ve pretty much finished all of my sign-on training. I know that there are 60 life rafts each with 10,000 kilojoules of food per person and I’ve listened to the loud man from Boston explain that thanks to our company’s environmental policies our giant cruise ship is actually good for the environment!

Today I saw a bird. We stopped in Honolulu and in Maui a few days ago. Nothing like a little night swimming in the shark attack capital of the world!

Today I saw a bird. Since there are so many sea days on this itinerary we’ve been playing a lot of guest entertainer shows. We’ve done Brad Cummings, Jack Walker, and Sean O’Shea so far. Many more to come…

Today I saw a bird. Mostly my days consist of watching Asia business with a cappuccino, practicing bansuri, sunbathing on the open deck, shaky egg salad sandwiches, watching the Boondocks with Bri-o, some sort of jazzy time in the evening, and partying. The party has been hearty.

Asia business report

Today I saw a bird. I wonder what a bird would be doing this far out in the ocean. He must be a strong flyer. Maybe he’s lost. Maybe we’re near land!

Today I saw a bird. If I hear one more person pronounce Papeete as ‘puh-pete’ I might lose my mind. I hope I’m not losing my mind.
